Got up early to the parking lot (~8am when it first opened) to make sure we finished before it got dark. Parking is $6 cash that you deposit into a box when you first drive in. It was the perfect day for a hike – cloudy and cool – which is nice when the trail doesn't have much shade. There weren't a lot of people around – minimal people on the trail and the picnic areas were fairly empty. It was beautiful seeing the clouds so high up; lots of large pine cones along the way, and random animals seen scurrying away like deers and rabbits.
