Did this hike on 3/10 (end of daylight saving time) with a friend and with a lot of trepidation. This is the longest distance we have hiked and prior to this hike, the highest elevation we have scaled is 2500ft. So this was scary. Once we started on the hike, we soon realized we were going in the opposite direction than we had planned to go. Reaching the peak was a challenge – but we did it! And we treated ourselves to ice cream to celebrate – in the hail!
Our hike downhill started with rain and hail. While we had raincoats, we were not completely prepared for the rain. My backpack was soaked which made it heavy and my shoulders hurt. By the time we reached Eagle Peak, it was an effort to put one foot in front of the other.
Trail was slippery in parts, but nothing that could not be overcome with hiking poles.
Overall, I'm extremely happy to have scaled this peak. It has been in my bucket list for the past 4 years!
