This is a hard hike, there are very few places that you can stretch your legs out, it's a stair master type of hike. For reference I did the Bright Angle Trial in the Grand Canyon last week (logged 18 miles with some exploring at the river) and I would rather do that again than Mount Elden again. Maybe I wasn't fully recovered from that, but I've done this mountain in the past and it wasn't looking forward to doing it again. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful hike and the views are wonderful. The hikers you meet on the trail are very friendly and it's why I love coming to Flagstaff to hike, people are so friendly.
The weather was perfect for the hike and the trial is in great condition. AllTrails totaled 5.6 miles with an elevation gain of 2,405 feet with a slow time of 4 hours 39 minutes. For whatever reason this is a challenging hike for me but its inspired me to lose weight and get in better shape so I can bound up this peak like the locals.
