Lots of packed snow at the beginning of the trail. Once you get to the base of Mount Pinos the snow became deep and snowshoes are recommended also if you go on to the Vincent Tumamait trail. We hiked past Pinos to the Vincent Tumamait trail and got into deep snow. We only were with micro spikes and trekking poles so we sunk in a few times. Weather wasn't cold and not too windy.
