I heard this hike described as: “The greatest hike that I never feel like I need to do again.” It's the perfect description. This hike was CHALLENGING. When you think it's over and you've reached the top… it's not over, keep walking. I was so exhausted coming down, I had to sit down and cry for just a moment.
But it's worth it. It's so exhausting – there's long stretches of walking in the relentless sun without a tree for shade in sight. There's quick elevation gain in short stretches. There's a small rock scramble to get to the top. You name it, this hike's got it. (We even saw a deer close to the trail!)
But the sense of accomplishment you get when you finally reach the top is worth it. So keep going, keep walking. And if you need to stop for a moment to cry, you can do that, too. Nature is the ultimate healer.
