The road to Mount Umunhum is paved and in good condition. There are three different trailheads, you will want to get there early in order to get a parking spot as the lots are very small and fill up fast. Note that the gate opens at 7am so you can start at the bottom on Hicks road anytime but in order to start at either of the two parking lots you will have to wait for the gate to open.

The trail is new and very well maintained. There are several nice bridges and signs with stories regarding the history of the area. There is an old military base on the top. There is a road going all the way to the top and there is handicapped parking for anyone unable to make the 7-16 mile hike. The views at the top are alright but I think the views from the hike and the lookout point are much nicer.
