Where the hell is this place? And what is it called again and how do you pronounce it? U-mun-hum? Amunhum? Umuhumn? Ahmumum? Hummus? Does that weird structure look like the spaceship from Contact? Or was it Arrival? It's just looming precariously on top of that not so distant peak. It's so ominous. Who is inside? What nefarious things are happening inside hiding in plain view? What happens if we knock on the door? Is there a door?

I was glad to have a friend along for this one. For once it was not some death march that I did not even bother selling to local hiking partners. It was a nice reasonable day hike, easily coupled with a nice brunch beforehand, a true Bay Area Backroads moment to boot.
