My favorite mountain! I think I've experienced all types of weather on Wilson – extreme heat, extreme cold, sun, wind, rain, hail and snow.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, our group experienced rain, hail and snow on the last couple of miles before the summit. It was surreal. And cold. Did I say cold? It was 32 degrees at the summit. I had four layers on, plus a beanie and gloves. I couldn't get warm enough. I think it was the shortest time I spent eating my lunch at the closed cafe – all pf 12.5 minutes.
I was leading the hike and I couldn't stand the cold anymore so I hurried my group up for the obligatory summit pics, and we headed down. Only then did I start to thaw. 🙂
