Foggy, low clouds impaired the views, but made for perfect hiking conditions! Fall colors were beautiful! And there was so much green grass; a novelty in drought-stricken SoCal! First couple of miles were boring, along the side of the mountain with not much to look at except to roofs of houses; it was obvious that locals use this part of the trail often. Once in the trees, it was great. Had the trail mostly to ourselves after the first couple of miles up and the last couple of miles down. Topography is an unrelenting incline and the return a decline; basically straight up then straight down. Once at the top couldn't see much because of the foggy, low clouds; didn't find the sign either, but didn't stick around that long. Did find the benchmark, so that picture will have to do. I did it; don't need to do it again. Hope Sturtevant / Chantry Falls opens soon; much nicer IMHO!
