Third peak! Halfway done!
Since much of the trail is a fire road, I decided to borrow a friend's mountain bike and bike the trail! I started from the base of the fire road (a little farther down the hill from where these directions start at GPS 38°39'19.2″N 122°35'50.1″W). This trail is a fire road of moderate grade in pretty good condition with the exception of the last ~10 minutes which gets a little rocky on the road.
The upper half of the trail is exposed to the elements, so plan accordingly on sunny or windy days. I passed a few groups hiking but no one else biking. The parking area had plenty of space on a Tuesday at noon. I'm pretty new to mountain biking, and my total time was about 3 hours.
Since this peak is so far north, I spent about double the time driving today as I did on the trail. Whomp whomp.
