Mt. Bachelor. Man did we have our struggles with this one. We 1st attempted to do this hike late afternoon on a Thursday and we did not know what we were getting ourselves into. For Starters, the trail had snow coverage on it the entire way up. Secondly we were not prepared for that and did not bring YakTrax or anything of that nature. When we found our way about 0.5 mile up to the peak it was reaching about 5pm in the afternoon and the snow had hardened and turned into ice. Without any flashlights, or traction on our feet we decided to pack up and head back down so we can make it before sunset. Knowing how close my girlfriend and I had come to the peak, it was disappointing to say the very least that we did not make it to the top. Determined to conquer Mt. Bachelor and complete all 6 peaks we came back on Saturday morning and blew through it all the way to the peak. Making the top was emotional. the reason for that was because due to my poor planning and not being prepared our first time around, we had thoughts in our head when we turned around that we would never finish this hike and in turn not have conquered all 6 peaks. So being able to come back and stand on top of Mt. Bachelor, look at the sisters, broken top, and many other spectacular views, it was one of the best feelings that I have had in an extremely long time.
