We got to the trailhead at 4:30 a.m. We drove thru Wrightwood, but google maps tried to take us on a strange route. We ended up driving on the 2 where maps said it was closed, but it didn't close until right after the trailhead parking lot. I hadn't had a lot of sleep the night before and I already felt a little elevation sickness when we started. It took me a good hour to adapt, just by taking it slow, taking electrolytes, and drinking lots of water. We got to the summit around 10:30 a.m., stayed up there for a bit, then made our way back. It took 9 hours total with stops and breaks. I felt so much joy at the top. This was way out of my comfort zone, but with the help of a group that doesn't leave any man behind, we all did it.
