I am always proud of completing a Mt. Baldy hike. Last year was my first time and I was very nervous about it, having read some stories of people getting lost or coming down on a treacherous section of the trail. Happily, after doing it last year I felt a lot more comfortable trying it again this year. I had to make the choice again on which way to go, and since I was already familiar with the Ski Hut/Baldy Bowl route I decided to do that one again, and it's shorter. What I gained from the shorter distance was sacrificed again by the steepness of the trail, but once again I made it. I had also reviewed notes about the trail and was really looking for landmarks this time around which made the descent much more comfortable and less worrisome for me. I was even able to point another couple in the right direction and make them feel better about not getting lost. The summit was VERY windy so I didn't stay up there too long. There were only two small groups when I got there and I saw one larger group going up as I came down. I imagine it was much less crowded than it is on the weekends. This accomplishment made me feel great.
