I’ve done Baldy before but this was by FAR my favorite time going up. The conditions were foggy and cold with a light drizzle at the beginning but cleared up around mile 2 when we got above the clouds. From there on up, it was in and out sun with the most gorgeous views into the valley. We did the devil’s backbone trail and it was completely free of snow.  There were 3 patches of snow/slush near the summit that we used our poles on but not necessary. I did love having my poles on the way down just to protect my knees. The summit was absolutely gorgeous and we met Ranger Dan!  We stayed on top for 2 hours!  Reapplied sunscreen and stopped at the Notch for a beer on the way down. This day, on Baldy, was one of my favorite day hikes I’ve ever done.
