After many substantial winter storms, we found a break to hike Mt. Diablo, but it was still showing signs of the heavy winter weather. Our trail going up had become part of the stream coming down, despite the “Waterfall Trail” being the next one to the east. Many trees were downed. One area looked like a tornado had hit it with trees cracked in half. But our day was beautiful and the hike was very pleasant and enjoyable. We ran into others hiking similar routes. We even saw hang gliders launching off the summit. Such amazing views of the entire bay area – able to see pretty much ALL of the other 6 Pack of Peaks peaks.
