A beautiful day with fellow hikers, followed by wine tasting and uber delicious fare at Yeti (Indian/Nepalese) in Glen Ellen. 10.8 miles with 2,195 feet of ascent. 4.5 hours of moving time. Sunny and warm on mostly fire roads with no cover. Also encountered areas where the devastating effects of recent fires surrounded the trail, as well as lots of red flame retardant on trail/road and vegetation as a result of recent (successful) efforts to contain this year's wildfires.
Saturday after MSH hike, stayed overnight in Glen Ellen at the Jack London Lodge, and did a “two-fer” trek on the Mountain Trail the following day (Sunday) at nearby Jack London Historical State Park (8.0 miles; 1778′). This hike is well worth it and you can learn about Jack London and his passion for sustainable farming as a bonus!
