Planned to hike Mount Wilson via the Chantry flats loop but upon arrival early morning I found the road to be closed due to a recent fire. So I switched gears and found the Mount Wilson trail out and back option a few minutes away.

The morning hike conditions were perfect and since it was a Wednesday there were not too many people out, especially once I passed the halfway point. The hike is nearly 100% ascending on the way up with few breaks on the legs, this also leads to steep descents on the way back so your legs never really get the chance to rest. The trail narrows in parts so you also need to watch your footing in places. I also observed plenty of wildlife to include lizards, deer, and a brown bear.

The summit was beautiful and there was a water source at the top to refill. The cafe was closed.

Overall a nice hike to get my legs back under me before hiking the bigger peaks.
