First time summitting San Jacinto. I've been wanting to hike that for a while. It is now one of my favorites. Total 18 miles RT from Deer Springs Trail with 5,300 ft of gain so it was just long and gradual. The last couple miles to the summit was challenging because of the elevation. I love the change of scenery through out the hike. It was worth getting up at 4 am to drive almost 2 hours each way and hiking with 4 hours of sleep.
