Yesterday wasn't a typical Mother's Day for me. Usually we spend it at home, but we decided to do a Mother's Day hike! It was the longest, hardest hike I've ever done, but so rewarding with the views all around us, and definitely from the top. It was kind of symbolic of being a mother… there were hard parts, easy parts, parts that I thought were never ending, parts that made you want to cry ???? and parts you just had to laugh at to get through, but mostly it was rewarding. It was nice to disconnect and reconnect with myself.

The weather was absolutely beautiful. It was sunny and warm with a cool breeze in the afternoon. It was in the 50s for most of the hike, and got up to about 65, maybe 70. It was enough to give me a little sunburn lol. Bugs were not a huge issue either. As it got warmer there were a few flies that bothered us, but not too bad. The biggest pest were ants, everywhere. However, they weren't so much a nuisance though. No one got bit.

There were quite a few fallen trees on the trail, and we had to go off the trail to get around a few of them. There were also a lot of trees had already been cut so you could walk through. We used AllTrails to confirm we were still on the trail a couple times and also to get back on the trail. We accidentally went down the wrong trail, so AllTrails alerted us and we turned around.

We couldn't find the elevation marker at the top, so I made one on a rock, and put #FindHappyRocks on it! Everyone at the top was so thankful for it! It totally made my day! I brought my markers up with me to paint a rock at the top. The markers did NOT like the elevation gain so I messed up the rock I brought, and found another little one to paint too. Not my best work, but it's still cute lol.

On the way down the mountain we met Brendon. He's hiking the entire PCT. He started in Mexico and is on his way to Canada. Please keep him in prayer on his trip! He was so thankful to have conversation and share his story. What an inspiration he was to us.
