A hike I just decided to do, a few days before my trip to Norcal for work. The flight to Sacramento landed 10am plus picking up the car and the winding drive halfway through, made my start to be very late, almost 1pm. I prefer to start as early as possible and snagged a decent parking spot but I’ll what’s out there.
The start of the trail is under tree canopies that helps during summer but majority of the trail is exposed and I was so glad with my handy dandy umbrella, otherwise, i’ll just turn around with the heat. The incline wasn’t so crazy and difficult but I did walk-run on my way back to be able to reach parking before 6pm.
I don’t find it as breathtaking as other peaks that I hiked or probably my head has this picturesque images being in Napa but was a treat at the top with some breeze. The drive was more enjoyable for me, seeing those vineyards everywhere.
As it was in July with soaring heat, and started a little past noon, i didn’t see people hiking until I was heading back and a small group of climbers in one of the switchbacks. I was totally by myself on top. Parking was full though, but then it was a small parking. The road was very busy and kinda in a blind spot so taking an utmost precaution crossing is a must.
