Great out and back hike with lots of shade and plenty of switchbacks. My group started around 8:45am and reached the summit before 10:30. The views from the top are beautiful! You can see Mt. Diablo, Mt. Tamalpais, and Mt. Hamilton very clearly. We did not encounter many bugs as others report, but perhaps we were just lucky or there were less in the morning. The road driving up to the trailhead is winding and on the narrow side, so recommend driving carefully up to the trailhead. When we arrived back to our car, we trekked an extra 0.7miles one way to reach Bald Mountain. Bathrooms are port-a-potty style with no running water to clean, so be prepared. Pack it in, pack it out! Otherwise, a great trail and definitely on the “easier” side, compared to other Bay Area hikes, with an elevation gain of approximately 1300ft as far as difficulty goes.
