This was my first of the 6 peaks, I'm doing this as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. I go to the parking lot early, cold but clear day, gorgeous views, got myself dressed and layered up, chatted with rangers who said things like Mt. Lion's not much of a concern there. I hit the first trail around 8. It was only 2 days after heavy rain, but minus 2 or 3 small mud patches the trail was extremely well packed, long and slow incline, 8.2 miles round trip. Every so often you get a lookout with a nice view. The hike in general was just nice and quiet, and calm. I did the full hike in about 3.5 hours, I took a lot of pictures at the top and recorded a couple of videos for my ALZ project. I live in Burlingame so probably won't come back regularly, but I can see doing it 2-3 times a year especially with out of town hikers who can't do bigger peaks. It's a seriously beautiful place, well maintained and the view from the top is spectacular, and the history displays are really cool. #1 is done!
I've pasted my ALZ fundraising link below too!
