Started the hike late (11am), so my partner and I caught the dark coming all the way down. We saw a beautiful sunset when we reached the top, but the rest was a slow descent since we had to be cautious. Had some great views and even saw some fall foliage on a small part of the trail. The weather was nice but it did get really cold at the top during sunset. I made a rookie mistake coming down, but for anyone considering taking an alternative route going down at night, just stick to the main trail. I chose to go down the toll road to catch another route that would help cut through to the main trail faster. At least it seemed that way on the map. Boy was I wrong. It was steep and very bushwacky. I still had fun but would never hike this peak like that again. At least not while I'm with someone or without my Garmin device. Best do the usual early morning rise to summit these peaks!
