We drove from Irvine at 6:00am, arrived on time, but the trail head has no parking lot, before the trailhead, there were already a bunch of vehicles along side of the street. We looked around and chose a spot to park. At 7:13am we started the hike.
Since the entire area is still at low altitude, the whole trip was in deep woods with plenty of shade and cool air. The morning hike was pretty comfortable. On the trail, we met many other hikes who came from local community and LA area. Some even coming in big groups. Those trail runners were on the trail too.
The trail path was very good maintained, only several short parts we have to move very carefully and slowly as we need to climb over some rocks that block the small narrow path.
At 12:50pm, we summit the top. We had our lunch from our backpack at the cafeteria shop where many other tourists gathered. Many of them drove up to the top through the local high-way.
The top was chilly and foggy that day. 1:40pm we started to head back. 5:40pm we hit the trail head. A perfect hike!
I think Mt. Wilson trail is very popular. Even though we knew that recently there are bears been seen. However we trust ourself and trust our luck, we decide to take this hike at this moment. And it turns out a great experience at that time.
