I haven't done any hiking since completing San G a few months ago. However this is my 4th time hiking Mt Wilson.

I knew this was going to challenge me.  This peak is the lowest of the 6 but big on challenge.

We started at 6am to avoid the traffic, parking issues and crowds on the trail.  We did it as a 14.7mi loop.

The first 4 miles are not too bad.  Once your reach Sturtevant camp the next 3 miles to the top is quite a challenge.  Half the Elevation gains are in this part of the hike. You'll gain approximately 2300 ft with multiple switchbacks.

Once you reach the area of the Hubble scopes take an extra detour to the right for some amazing mountains views some good photo ops.  The sign is hit or miss. This is the area you'll find with sign if there is one.  Today there was not a sign available for photos.  There is a “marker” here but it not “The” Marker.  That is found below the Cosmic Cafe on your way down if your doing the loop.

We took our official meal break at the Cosmic Cafe.  Although it is close this time of year, it is still a great resting area with nice views.

On the way down there is lots of downed trees to climb over or attempt to get around.  There are areas of unsure footing (loose sand, dirt and scree) I was thankful to have hiking poles for the obstacles.

Overall, the hike is challenging, there is no snow, there are minor obstacles along the trail but when prepared its no problem.

It took my group of three propel 8 hours total with breaks…. 6am – 2pm

We did the Six Pack last year unofficially, so we are looking forward to this years Six Pack of Peaks challenge with this great group of adventurers!
