Having done this hike before, I felt prepared and even over-prepared. Last time I did this mid-summer, I encountered some crazy biting black flies, so we definitely over-prepped and doused our bodies and clothes in 99.99% DEET.
Luckily for us, we didn't encounter too many of them this June and it was a nice pleasant, shady hike 🙂
Even stopped by the Sturtevant Falls for a quick detour.
The ice cream and snacks at the top of the observatory are always a saving grace too!
