We started at the coordinate above at about 9:20 AM. Conditions were good and it was a nice mix of shade/sun. We stopped for lunch at about 12:45 PM and that's when the bugs started to come out (about 30 minutes passed the 3.5 mile sign). Trail was not too crowded. The water was beautiful to hear while hiking and there was a lot of lush greenery/flowers at times. We thought we were about there according to the Gaia GPS and All Trails Map thinking that the trek was about 13/14 miles. It ended up taking us 16.11 miles to complete and we weren't as mentally prepared for that. It was nice to have a soda at the top (Cosmic Cafe) and while we were up there we checked out the Observatory museum and 100 inch microscope. There was not a peak sign at the top–the individuals at the cafe stated there may be one at Echo point but they were unsure if it was there because they stated that people tend to steal them. We decided to not continue longer because that would have been another mile and we were already at 8 miles logged for on the way up. It ended up being 16.11 miles for us and finished at about 6pm. It was a longer day than expected, but it was nice to be able to enjoy the Observatory up top.
