I am not sure why I don't really like this hike, it has everything that a great hike ought to have. It's got a well maintained trail, wooded sections, good views, taken in sections it's got a lot of great parts. Maybe because it was so hard for me the first few times I'm still psychologically traumatized. I have been solo hiking more so hiking with a group, especially a big group like 3H and 213 Hikers is a change of pace, the people are great. And even with big groups people end spread out in smaller clumps. It's not a long hike, or a difficult hike, but it's a respectable climb, 4,600'+ according to my AllTrails track. We got up to the top and I hung out at the Cosmos Cafe. I was strong and resisted the blueberry pie ala mode, but did have a root beer float. Going back down I took the newish detour down the canyon towards the gaging station and then downstream towards First Water. It was well worth the detour. The stream was running well with pools, chutes and falls, and 4 stream crossings. Then up to rejoin the trail. It was a good hike. I said I wanted to do this with a group because misery loves company, but it wasn't miserable at all. It was a nice hike with great people.
