Started at 7:00am and took a detour up to the Lower Falls. Switchbacks from Sturtevant Camp were steady and long. Not too steep, but taxing as you get closer to the top where the sun started to take affect. The last 1/4 mile is pretty steep. Flies were a pain on the switchbacks as they reminded you there were there every time you stopped to catch your breath. A shoe change at the top (need more breaking in…) and a quicker decent to Chantrey Flats were needed. There is one more climb on the decent of about 500 feet after Hoegee Camp on the way down. All in all a great day for a hike. Being late Spring there was a steady sound of water flowing through the streams and falls through a good portion of the hike. I was thankful for the abundant amount of shade on this hike. There were only a few stretches of exposure to the sun. I'd recommend getting an early start. It took me 7.5 hours. Stops on the way up and shoe change were about 30 min.
