Hiked during the week.  Not many hikers on the trail.  We started at 8:20 am and finished almost 10.5 hours later!  Needles to say, we took our time to enjoy the hike.  Temperature was in the mid to high 80s.  We were in sun for the first 2.5 miles (hot for the morning time), but then came into wonderful and much appreciated shade for the remainder of the trail – with intermittent sun sections. We came upon a trickle of super cold and refreshing water.  Just dipping my hand into it cooled me down significantly.  The swarm of bees next to us were unbothered by our presence.  We came across some fallen trees on the trail, but were able to get around or under fairly easily.  Big THANK YOU to the volunteers on the trail with shovels and chainsaw clearing the trail for us hikers.  We summitted in the late afternoon and roamed around checking out the museum, telescopes and other buildings before we were able to find the Mt. Wilson sign.  We ate lunch and got a water refill before hitting the restroom and heading down.  We were mostly in the shade for the descent!  Cosmic Café was closed– we shall go back on a weekend hike to try their menu.
