Wow!! This was the most intense hike to date. Mummy Mountain is very technical, especially hiking up the scree. I put my crampons on and they worked great! I usually wear them when I snow hike, but they work with scree too. Who knew?! I used my trekking poles going up, yet going down I pulled a “Mission Impossible” move by taking my rope climbing gloves and I glided down the scree on my butt/legs and hands. Worked like a champ, until I saw all my bruises on my behind the next day. lol Hey, whatever works, right? This was a very inspirational hike I might add that you can find peace even in the suffering. I had back surgery 8 months ago, and it has humbled me to enjoy the little things in life no matter how big or small. When you are on these peaks/summits, I feel like I'm getting closer to heaven. Last Sunday, the weather was beautiful with a high 71 degrees, yet the wind really picked up once we made it to the summit. It took us 5.5 hours to reach the summit and 3.5 hours to get down. One of the toughest, yet rewarding hikes I've ever done in my life. I'd definitely go back to hike Mummy Mountain.
