Started the morning early. Ice was already on the road to the San Antonio falls. We put micro spikes on at the falls and headed up. There were four of us going. We originally were just going to go up to the ski hut. But things went differently.

When we started off up the ski hut trail we met a group of ladies that were talking about going up Register Ridge(R.R.). We talked with them for a little bit and wanting to be macho men we were like heck yeah we will go with you gals. The four of us are in pretty good shape so this didn’t seem to daunting. We hung back for a little bit and the girls headed up the turn off. When we started up we didn’t see them and just assumed they were cranking up the trail. So we made the cut up to R.R. and kept on keepin on. We couldn’t see the girls and we started getting gassed. Then we realized we were the first people up this trail. No footprints ahead of us. Dang we got bamboozled.

2 of the guys were done hiking but we spurred them on and headed up. R.R. was a slog of a hike but we stopped about 1/3 of the way up to the back bone junction for breakfast. With the fuel we needed we carried on.

We spent all of 20 seconds at the summit and headed to tree cover due to the high winds and cold.

We took the ski hut trail down to the hut for lunch. At the peak we met a couple who didn’t pack well for the hike. They had only half a bottle of water left between them and no trekking poles. But they did have micro spikes worst part is they had sneakers for footwear. We ran down the hill plowing through the snow bluffs it was a grand old time.

We fed the couple and our selves at the ski hut and headed for manker flats. When we reached the truck it was a welcome site to see.
