Great hike today with my friend Mary C. Mitchell. We made to the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead just before 6am. Parking wasn't too bad for a Sunday. We had perfect weather and trail condition all day. I think the high at the end of the hike was about 65 degrees and the summit after 10am was around 50 degrees.
We took Icehouse Canyon and the Cucamonga Peak trail up to the summit. Snow past Icehouse Saddle was virtually non-existant. Just a few traces left. Surprisingly, there were more hikers at the summit then I expect. We even ran into a crew doing an unofficial Fool's Traverse. Not sure if they made it.
On our descent, we decided to add a few miles by taking the Chapman Trail down. Great call! Very pleasant hike down and far less hikers in this trail. I think we ran into 5 total.
Another great day on the trail. It was my 7th SoCal Six Pack of Peak for 2022. It was also my 7th year consecutive year completing the SoCal Six Pack of Peak Challenge and my 13th summit of Cucamonga Peak during that time.
