Mt Diablo

#4 of the challenge for me.

I’ve always been slightly intimidated by Mt Diablo. It’s just so imposing. I’m so glad hiked it.

I used all trails and hiked clockwise  the trail up to the peak was all hiking trail  no service road  some ruff terrain, loose gravel and slot of boulders to climb over. It’s up hill all the way.   Wear good gripped shoes   I also used hiking poles  the scenery and views from the path up were amazing  the weather was below 70 all the way and the cool breezes on the exposed and higher trails were a welcome relief

the peak is great with restrooms and water refill area   Cute little museum also.

I continued clockwise on the trip down  first two miles are trails again until you get to a campground  then it’s service road all the way down  it’s a fast, steep drop all the way

i went through about 3 liters of water on this hike

A lot of big flies but otherwise no other bugs a lot of poison ivy

it’s a great hike  I’m sure it’s beautiful in the fall and spring
