I think this is my fav in Bay area because the trail is mostly shaded and beautiful trail. Parking had only less than 10 cars parked, despite arriving late in the morning but then it was Friday lol. I flew in from Socal that morning so had a late start. Going back to the car, I was running half of the time as I need to be in Sacramento for a dinner and the traffic from San Jose to Sac sucked😂
Back to the trail, had a chat with a local hiker and gave me some info about the area. This trail reminded me some of the trails in Socal due to the manzanita trees at some areas. I’d say this is more of a distant relative of the rest of the Bay area trails than immediate because it didn’t remind me of the others.
I enjoyed this trail very much and didn’t hate the stairs that leads to the top. It has an added twist to it. The top is also more interesting, with the building structure that used to be a radar tower nestled here… a building not a house or a shack… but a ginormous building! A few viewpoints to choose from as well but i have trouble finding the usgs marker but there’s the sign. This place is also driveable but since it wasn’t a weekend, I only saw one vehicle here.
