This is by far my favorite hike to date! This was the first weekend open so it was fairly crowded by 6:30am. Being part of the PCT and named after the founder of the BoyScouts made it very exciting. It was also my highest altitude hike to date so a little nerve wracking.

The trail was foggy at the bottom and cold. I was surrounded by beautiful pine trees and it was quiet. I enjoyed the break at the bench around the one mile mark. The next mile was tough and long but I trekked through. Once we got to the third mile it was challenging getting over some snow patches. That is also when the trail opened up a bit with the most blue sky I’ve seen. The views were unbelievable this whole time.

We made it to the last mile. Of course I could feel the altitude a little bit as I was going uphill. It was very windy too! We made it to the saddle and saw that we were above the clouds which was amazing. Such a cool feeling to be the same height that airplanes fly. It was also cool to see the 1500 year old tree.

We made it to the summit. The flag was gone this morning but we still got wonderful photos. The peak is large and we found a spot away from the wind to enjoy a snack. I felt very accomplished and satisfied with this hike. It’s my favorite one to date.
