A rainy and foggy day; luckily A and I looked ahead and were prepared. There was a brief torrent of tiny hail, which stung our hands and wrists, but passed within a few minutes (we would have turned around otherwise). The trail is absolutely lovely on the way up, with what felt like a very gradual gain until the very last push (05 mile?). While we didn't get the showstopper views until we were fairly far back downhill, the clouds and gloom gave the hike a wonderful atmosphere and kept us from getting overheated. We were lucky enough that the clouds broke right at one of the vista points, and it was an amazing moment in a satisfying day.
Big Caveat: The Alltrails route sends you through an area with no marked trail on the way down, which is very confusing. We ended up backtracking and having to head back uphill to reconnect with established trails, adding 2 extra miles to our journey. I recommend just doing this out and back, unless you like plowing through plants off trail and have good GPS.
