This is the 3rd year I've hit San Jacinto Peak on New Year's Eve, so I guess it's a tradition now.

I took off from the ranger station at around 8:30. I went up the Sid Davis route and joined the main trail past the rock garden. Only two ladies on Sid Davis and they left me in the dust. Jumped on the main trail around 2.5 miles up and jumped off at Miller Saddle and went up to the summit. It's 3.9 miles from the tram to the summit, shorter, but no quicker for me, and definitely harder. Summited a little after 12, not too bad for a fat old guy. I took the main route back down, 6 miles and made it to Mountain Station by 3:30.

This is always a great hike and one I do multiple times throughout the year. I was disappointed that there was no snow, but the weather was fantastic today and the sky was blue. It will snow soon enough.
