A great day to bag Mt. Pinos and Sawmill Mountain. We considered pressing on to Grouse, but knew there was a two hour drive back home to contend with, so we kept the hike shorter. The wind was wonderful and the weather perfect; not too hot but bright. The views were socked in with smoke, but luckily at the this elevation, we were above it, so the mountains peeking out looked like islands in fog. My 74 year-old mother accompanied me with no trouble; it's a great hike with scenic views and excellent Chumash history. Nearly got creamed on the 5 Freeway coming home by terrible drivers, but that's another story…
