My watch said it was 7.37 miles with 1,821 elevation which doesn’t sound too crazy….except when you consider the last mile to the summit gained 1,200 of those feet 😱. We had to WORK for that last mile to get to the top. We knew there were already peak signs at the top, but the boy wanted to make his own so the sign he’s holding in the picture was his creation. It’s balsa wood and probably won’t hold up too long so he wants to come back in a couple months to see what it looks like. Overall the trail was in great condition considering all the rain lately. And although it was busy most hikers were considerate and we met a couple very interesting people. At the summit we met a retired man who was practicing for his 5th summit of Mt. Whitney – he said this hike is harder in many ways aside from the elevation and length lol.
