Last peak of the year!
Have wanted to hike Chantry Flats since for awhile because my husband would tell me stories about when he was younger and how he’d bike up there then hike up the trail to meet snow then turn around. Finally it’s open! It was a pleasant hike. Not the hardest, not the easiest. Nice in between. Lots of poison oak – why does it looks so pretty in the fall? Lots of acorns – so many different shapes and sizes!! And lots of oak trees (and remnants of the fire). Hike had some definite steep parts w consistent uphill ascent. Some confusing signage at Manzanita Ridge. Was in drizzle the latter half of the hike. Last weekend that Cosmic Cafe is open until next season so got some hot chocolate and a cookie!
