Started out the hike around 3pm. The trail to Mt Pinos was very wide and many families were hiking as well and even some horseback riders. Right after the Mt Pinos peak we discovered a canister with messages and mementos left from previous travelers. Heading down the side of Mt Pinos towards Sawmill the trail becomes more narrow and steep but still very nice and well kept. Then, we completely lost Sawmill Mt. Failing to see the trail to the summit we kept going another mile and a half and we're on our way to the third peak before we realized we passed Sawmill. Backtracking, we made it to the summit and then back down to the Nordic Base. Round trip it took us 4 hrs with plenty of detours and stops to investigate interesting things.
