The weather was clear, blue and sunny, but cold and slightly windy at the top.  The trail is is very good shape considering the recent storms.  We encountered a few puddles but they were easily traversable.  The hike was beautiful and lush green and moderately difficult.  Not too busy since there are very few parking spots available.  It had glorious views of Silicon Valley and can see all the way to Mt Diablo to the northeast.  It's a great starter hike for the Challenge!  Had an awesome time!  We added extra mileage by doing a quick hike to Bald Mountain Overlook.  I've never been in this part of the Bay Area and feel lucky to live in this great region!
