Wow! Old Trail is a beast but so rewarding for the mind, soul and body. We straped our snowboards onto the back of our big multi-day backpacks and started the climb. Made sure our board were secured high enough on our packs so that your calfs wouldn't hit the sharp edges. Our intention was a training hike for Saint Helens however if conditions were right, I would strap up. The trail was awesome…unmantanied… a bit muddy at the beginning and then snow…lots and lots of snow. The trail is steep and gets steeper. We wore microspikes once we hit the snow. The summit was really beautiful, I almost gave up twice till I saw 4 other people at the top celebrating. Shout out to the group at the top…” Thank you for your cheer and graditute!”. The condidtions at the top was a near white out with high winds so I didn't stay long and hiked down. Awesome day!!
