Got to the trailhead at 7:30.  There were no other cars.  The trail starts off with a nice easy stroll along the lava flows for about a mile and then the incline starts and doesn’t stop until you reach the summit.  The last mile and a half is the steepest.  The views all along the way are great but the ones from the summit are spectacular.  Ranger Mallory invited me up to the catwalk to have a look around and educate me about the area.  Took me close to 3 hrs to go up and an hour and a half down.  It was almost 90 degrees when I got to my car.
