I was on a mission today to do Mission Peak! I’ve been sick with a cold all week and had to cancel my plans to do Mt Diablo earlier this week. I’m running out of time to finish the six peak challenge (this was peak #5 for me), so I was hoping I’d feel well enough to do Mission Peak today instead and I was…mostly. My legs felt fine, but my lungs and throat were working a little harder/not feeling quite back to normal, but I made it by going slow and steady.
My favorite thing was the cows on the trail. Though someone in front of me was letting their two dogs bark at the cows who responded by loudly mooing. They did not sound happy and I kept my distance.
It was very hot today, which was surprising, but lovely (I know it’s been nice all week, but I missed it since I was sick). I was glad I wore a t-shirt and I honestly would’ve been fine in shorts – even at the windy peak I still didn’t need to add any layers. I’m very thankful for this lovely, and especially dry, weather so I can hopefully finish the six peak challenge next week with Mt Diablo!
