Ok….for sure, this was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and that's the truth. I am 56 years old and have 19 year old triplets. Nothing can compare to the mental strife of ascending 6000 ft in 5 1/2 miles. Of course I'm only speaking for myself as many many people were passing us on the trail like it was just another walk in the park. I struggled with this hike and getting to the scramble was like nothing I had experienced before. There was no plateau at the top but just a pile of very large boulders and several hikers spread out all of over them at the top. It was like a party and traffic jam all in one. Christina and I managed to carve out a little spot to rest and I was pleasantly surprised when my buddy pulled out a Timeless Pints Huckleberry Oatmeal Stout for us to share. We took a few pictures with the sign and with each other then got back on our way as it took us 7 1/2 hours to go up, I had a feeling it was going to be as difficult to get back down, and it was! It required a tremendous amount of focus to get down as it was extremely steep. At some point, I wasn't sure we were ever going to get to the end and I started having thoughts about just wanting to see my family again..(so dramatic)! We did make and had two of the most amazing trail angels waiting for us at the end with a sandwich and champagne. I was so happy and so drained and felt so accomplished!!
