I made over a dozen summits to Mount Baldy this year, but my absolute favorite was when I was accompanied by my 20 year-old son. They heavy snowfall this year meant climbing the route with snow, but no heavy snow gear required this time. Earlier in the year we had made ascents via the Baldy Bowl where full mountaineering equipment was required. This has to be one of my favorite peaks, mostly because it’s close to home. So when I head out at 5am to go “play in the backyard,” they know where I’m going!
