Instead of hiking Sitton Peak as a traditional day hike, I opted to do it this time as an overnight backpacking trip. The last time I hiked it, I scouted out a nice spot for my tent about a mile from the summit. I took my time working my way up, as it was a warm afternoon. After setting up camp, I slack-packed it to the summit to enjoy the sunset. I left a bit before the true sunset, as the descent is a “fun” one and not one I cared to do with a headlamp. Once back at camp, I made dinner and retreated into my tent to avoid some of the bugs.
I woke a bit before sunrise, packed up, and headed back down the car to avoid the coming heat.
