Started at the Mitchell Canyon parking lot. I did the hike counterclockwise and boy was I glad I did. The first 5 miles or so are all on a fire road. The first 2 was little to no elevation gain and then it got pretty brutal. The first trail to the summit happened at the Juniper campground. After the summit, the trail down was a little chaotic. It was pretty crowded and so declines along the way were very unfriendly on my knees. Alltrails has this loop listed as 13 miles and it’s definitely more than that. My fit bit app logged 17.2 miles. I will definitely do this trail again if I get the Mt. Whitney permit, but other than that I’ll stay away from this one. Hell of a challenge with some incredible views, but I wouldn’t necessarily say I enjoyed it.
